Enterprise Development

OBJECTIVE

Promote the enhancement of income generating or livelihood projects through microfinance, microinsurance and capacity building.

BACKGROUND

Enterprise Development, one of the core programs of Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc., was started in 1986. It initially extended loans to cooperatives and associations. In 1996, JVOFI shifted its approach to individual lending to ensure that the benefits are realized by the ultimate clients. As one of the partners of the United Development Program – Microfinance Support Programme nationwide, it was introduced to the ASA microfinance methodology of Bangladesh. Under this methodology, loans, savings products and microinsurance services are brought to the doorsteps of poor and underprivileged clients.
