Sto. Rosario Elementary School is a public school located in one of the far-flung areas of Floridablanca, Pampanga. The way to the school has a lot of crossroads that will lead first-timers astray. The school has been identified as the beneficiary of the provision of school supplies last October 17, 2018.
PMFTCs’ Communications Manager, Maria Dolores ‘Didet’ Santiago headed the distribution of 189 sets of school supplies to the students. The project was in partnership with the Rotary Club of Downtown Olongapo, Rotary Club Greater Floridablanca and the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPPO), who facilitated the Oplan Bisita Eskuwela I AM STRONG (Oplan BES). As part of Oplan BES, representatives of the PPPO discussed to the children the negative effects of smoking, drugs and sexual violence. The students became very attentive as they watched how Efren Penafloreda explained “I AM STRONG”. Ms. Santiago, on the other hand, led the dancing of “I AM STRONG” joined by the students who enthusiastically followed the dance steps. I Am STRONG activity books were then distributed.
Aside from these, hygiene kits and macaroni soup (‘sopas’) were given to the children by the Rotary Club Greater Floridablanca.
“This is the first time that somebody came to our school to give us gifts and I am very thankful that our school was chosen. Thank you very much. (“Ito po ang unang beses na may pumunta sa aming paaralan upang bigyan kami ng mga regalo. Nagpapasalamat po kami at napili ninyo ang aing paaralan. Maraming salamat po”) said by a Grade 4 student.
This event further manifested that collaborating with different organizations to help the less fortunate is more effective rather than a sole unit doing all the work.
