Quezon City was among the severely affected areas in Metro Manila since the recent southwest monsoons (Habagat) enhanced by Tropical Storms. This natural phenomena occurs every year but the government and the people are still overwhelmed to its destruction in their livelihood, home and families.
On such calamities, PMFTC, through its EMBRACE program, never fails to reach out to those in need. On August 16, 2018, relief goods were distributed at Barangay Roxas and Tandang Sora in Quezon City. Three hundred fifty families received food packs containing rice, canned goods, noodles, toothbrush and toothpaste. These families were affected by the continuous rains brought about by successive typhoons ‘Henry’, ‘Inday’, ‘Josie’ and ‘Karding’ up to the second week of August.
Stakeholders from the local government unit of Quezon City assisted during the activity and made sure that the distribution was in order. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque also graced the activity in Barangay Tandang Sora, expressing his genuine appreciation to EMBRACE.
“Maraming salamat po sa tulong na naibigay ninyo sa aming pamayanan,” (Thank you very much for the assistance you have given us) one resident put emphasis upon receiving the food packs. She also said that whether the aid is big or small, it greatly helped them as what they were given were basic necessities for daily living.
As the food packs were being distributed, the heartfelt gratitude of the residents were felt as seen in their wonderful smiles. The relief activity was a partnered activity between EMBRACE, the local and the national governments with the same aim of giving immediate care to communities in need.
