On March 25, 2022, the SDG project was presented to the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) of Baguio City. One hundred twenty-eight (128) Punong barangays and their representatives attended the activity where the SDG tracking website was presented as a tool for the prioritization and identification of projects and programs in their respective communities.
This is the first time that the city of Baguio will have a publicly-accessible repository of socio-economic statistics for decision-makers from the barangay-level to the city-level.
Last April 11, 2022, a communications planning workshop was conducted via Zoom. The training was provided by IISD (International Institute for Sustainable Development), represented by Matthew TenBruggencate. participants were JVOFI representatives and the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) of Baguio who will be managing the SDG Tracking progress website.
The IISD Baguio SDG Tracking Progress portal is the output of a 10-month project funded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) implemented by the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation Inc,. through the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) for the City of Baguio.
The project aimed to develop on online community Indicator system using the IISD’s United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Tracking Progress Tool.
The SDGs provide the framework for achieving social, economic and environmental development to achieve prosperity for all and lasting peace which ore enshrined in the country’s development plan from 2016-2022 and the longer-term -Ambisyon Natin 204o.
The project shall “establish a customized CIS Portal based on the Tracking Progress Tool and hosted by IISD as part of the Tracking Progress Network. The purpose of the CIS Portal is to enable the LGU of Baguio to use local data to track progress towards community wellbeing in the context of the SDGs.”
