Internal Capacity Building on English Proficiency Held
To enhance the staff’s writing skills and English proficiency, Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation Inc. conducted a three-day capacity building training entitled B2B (Back to Basics) Strategies for Improved Communication: Responding to the Challenges of the 21st Century Business Organization Seminar –Workshop held last July 20-22, 2016.
Agnes Mariano, one of the resource speaker, shared that studies show that Filipino workers’ self-assessed proficiency in the English language declined over the last three decades. This is manifested in their ability to speak and write and to think in English. To keep pace with this challenge, a refresher on grammar and writing was necessary for us to succeed professionally.
The training comprised of various sessions and workshops on essay, email, testimonial and proposal writing; grammar refresher and team building activities. For three days, the JVOFI staff were able to enhance their knowledge and skills in writing. They also had the opportunity to refresh their English grammar aptitudes and the chance to bond with fellow staff through team building activities in between the sessions.
At the end of the seminar–workshop, JVOFI staff related their lessons learned and experiences to the units they belong to and projects they are handling. They all came up with a written proposal and testimonies as a final output.
