Building the Capacities of APPFI Communities on Sustainable Water System Management

Water has been the most essential element of life. All living things need this precious commodity in order to survive; thus, it is very important to properly manage & protect it and its sources to ensure clean and  sustained water supply for the current and next generations to come.

Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc., in partnership with AES Philippines Power Foundation, Inc. (APPFI) together with its stakeholders, has been conducting several consultations and negotiations on the planned implementation and construction of a water system project in Masinloc, Zambales.

An outcome of it is a project partnership agreement (PPA) for the construction of a level II Watersystem in Barangay Taltal and Bani, Masinloc Zambales. This will be forged among the partners specifically the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU), Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), Community Water Association (CWA), the Masinloc Water District (MWD) and the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc. (JVOFI).

While the PPAs are being reviewed by all the partners, the creation of the community water associations that will manage the watersytem started. As a result, the Taltal, Togue, Relocation Community Water Association (TTRCWA) was formed last May 10, 2014 for Barangay Taltal. Schedules were also set for Barangay Bani.

Monitoring of the water source was also conducted with APPFI and community representatives from Taltal and Bani. This is to ensure that the proposed water source is sufficient to address the daily water needs of the community.
