The Plastic Recovery and Recycling Project team of the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc. participated in a three-day International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) activities in Bauang and San Fernando La Union last September 16-18, 2022.
Bauang and San Fernando LGUs rallied volunteers from among their employees to join the 37th International Coastal Cleanup. The Provincial Government Environment and the Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), the Bureau of Fire, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) also joined in.
They were able to collect a total of 115 kilos of assorted waste.
The ICC is the largest volunteer effort for the environment and is held every third Saturday of September of every year in over 199 countries and 554 U.S. states and territories. In the Philippines, Proclamation 470 declared that the ICC be observed every third Saturday of September of each year.
