Microfinance Group Leaders Empowered and Inspired Through Values & Leadership Training

IMG_1343“I realized I haven’t been a good leader to my group and to my family as well. The training made me realize so many things on what really good leadership is. Little by little, through my learnings in this training, I will try to develop myself to become a more effective leader to my group” said one of the participants of the Values and Leadership Training conducted by Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Microfinance Program.

Held at Hotel 45, Baguio City on September 6, 2014, the training was attended by 74 JVOFI Microfinance group leaders coming from Itogon, Bokod, Sablan, Tuba, Tublay, La Trinidad, Baguio City, Burgos and Naguilian, La Union. This intended to develop leaders through applying technical skills in handling the members within a group, establishing good relationship among members and loan officers and developing their leadership knowledge, attitude and skills

Training speaker Carlo Racelis highlighted discussions on how to develop leadership skills, types of leadership, requisites of leadership, how to build relationship among members and the importance of having a purpose. He also discussed some tips on how to conduct a meeting and how to handle conflict within a group.

Most participants said that the training was very informative and inspiring. “I am so thankful for this leadership training because I learned a lot. This training inspired me so much that I felt I became more courageous to face problems that will come my way.  I am going home happy, contented and confident to share my learnings not only to my co-members but also to my family,’ one of the participants shared during the closing.

To inspire the leaders more, Mr. Racelis ended with a quote, “I receive nothing I wanted, but I received everything I needed”.
